Greg Byrne | Jun 14 2010, 8:13pm | The Race Registration is at Fenton’s and will close at 12.30 to allow everyone to move up to the race start at the base of Camara Hill. Please remember that Fenton’s is about an hour’s drive from Tallaght on a good day. When parking please be careful not to block in other cars as many walkers will park in the same area. Kit List If the weather is bad people may be required to carry a rain jacket and whistle. You have plenty of warning, so no excuses if they are asked for on the day. Those who estimate their finishing time as being 90+ mins would be advised to carry some water as there will be none provided. For those no familiar with the route I would highly recommend enjoying the route as a walk before the event, and bringing map, compass and a mobile phone on day. The IMRA emergency number will be active on the day, and my number is 086 - 3130242 in case poor coverage only allows texting. Volunteers As usual we require some additional volunteers, especially looking for a laptop operator and a First Aider. GPS of the route. Thanks to Mick Hanney for this... http://connect.garmin.com/activity/7669781 |
Greg Byrne | Jun 24 2010, 10:02am | Still looking for more volunteers for this run, particularly First Aider and a Laptop Operator. |
Greg Byrne | Jun 28 2010, 4:28pm | Hi all, still looking for some more people to volunteer for Lug this Saturday. |
Niamh Garvey | Jun 28 2010, 9:15pm | Hi Greg, I've signed up to volunteer on Saturday - I won't be running. I forgot to put a departure time in the carpool - we'll be leaving Crumlin Village at 11am. Niamh |
Greg Byrne | Jul 1 2010, 10:40am | Anyone else interested in being a non-running volunteer for Saturday? Anyone looking to collect their end of league prize next Wednesday will need to have volunteered twice. This will count towards that. Volunteer through MyIMRA or email me at gregory.byrne@ucd.ie |
Greg Byrne | Jul 2 2010, 2:41pm | Please note that the weather forecast predicts a high possibility of wind, low cloud and rain for tomorrow afternoon. Such wind conditions mean that the weather at the top of Lug can change very rapidly. I would ask all runners to come prepared for the conditions with: • Waterproof jacket • Whistle • Map and compass suitable for navigating the course • Emergency food & water if you're expecting to be out >90 minutes The decision will be made tomorrow, at the start on the required kit, but have it ready as those without the required kit will not be allowed to run. We'll check it at the end of the race too. I also ask all runners to make sure that everything the take onto the mountain they also take off the mountain. Last year we had some items dropped by runners. Littering is not what we want people to remember us for. |

Greg Byrne | Jul 4 2010, 6:47pm | Summit times for the Lugnacoille 2010 shown above. Well done to all the runners. |
Mick Hanney | Jul 4 2010, 9:34pm | Added a report which breaks out the times into uphill and downhill to show who gained and lost places to the finish. |

Brendan Lawlor | Jul 5 2010, 8:51am | Well done Greg and co for great race on Saturday |
Kevin Byrne | Jul 11 2010, 7:17pm | Did the Lug race....first IMRA race in a gazillion years. Time wasn't great 83mins. Disappointing yes, but not so bad that I'd want to change my name to John O'Brien (No. 1715). Ah well, I was Kevin Byrne at the summit at least. Who is responsible for this outrage? To whom should I address the defamation proceedings? Thanks Kevin (formerly 1090) |
Eoin Keith | Jul 12 2010, 9:12am | The results and records secretary (see the contacts section of the website), is the poor unfortunate who gets the pleasure of fixing the results on the website. |
Kevin Byrne | Jul 12 2010, 10:37pm | Thanks, Eoin. |
