Doon Hill Run
ARUP Munster Hill Running Championship race - Preliminary report by Douglas Barry
John Lenihan showed the rest of the opposition that he still has a trick or two in his bag by taking the second round of the Munster Championship at Doon, Co. Limerick. The former world champion had a 13 second advantage over Bilboa runner Tom Blackburn who gratefully took the local glory by winning the Limerick County Championship incorporated in the race. Tom in turn had only a 23 second margin over former junior international Martin Bradshaw who was also flying the Bilboa flag.
The Finbarrs' Flyer Blaithin Hannon proved to be the best of the women's race. The Cork runner and current Irish international beat Trish, another member of that strong running local Bilboa clan the Blackburns, who in turn beat Mary Lenihan wife of the men's winner and no mean competitor herself.
