Dundrum South Dublin dominated the under 16 girls race by providing the first three finishers. Clare McCarthy had an excellent run, in her first non-schools mountain race, to win by one minute and 41 seconds from Sorcha Humphreys. She was well up among the junior and senior women when she finished. Una McCarthy Deering was third. The course itself was very challenging as it doubled up as the early part of the trial course for the senior men.

Daniel Byrne Crowley from Celtic DCH won the under 16 boys in his first mountain race.

Catherina Mullen from Shercock in County Cavan pulled off a surprise win in the junior women's race. She had won her first mountain race recently in Mullaghmeen in the Meath championships and she carried this and good cross-country form into the race. Niamh Denny (DSD) was runner-up ahead of Sinead Cronin (Celtic DCH) and Breda McDonald (North Laois). All four girls are under 18 and hence eligible for consideration for selection for the British and Irish under 18 international.
