All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions etc., and clearly advised at Registration.

You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required.

Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out.

Route Description:

Early Start at 11.30am Only for runners normally > 160% of winners time. And only for long course runners. Registration will open at the Gap pub from 10.30am. Registration will close before 1/4 to 12.

Start is about 10 mins walk from pub. Race briefing for early start at 11.25am at start line. Race briefing for main start at 11.55am.

There will be a short course option. This is 6.8k with c.300m of climb. This will start 5 mins after the main race start at 12.05. Short course is suitable for juniors over 14 years old.

Getting There:

From Dublin: best route is to take the N11 Exit 22 (Gorey/Inch) at roundabout take 3rd exit (Gorey/Carnew/Inch), at next roundabout take 1st exit (Gorey/Carnew), and immediately take next right, going over humpback bridge. Follow this road straight (from here to pub about 10k), through Kilanerin, keep straight on road until it ends at junction, turn right on road for 700m to Gap pub.

Alternate: to Rathnew, take the exit to Rathdrum. From Rathdrum: drive through Aughrim, then R747 towards Tinahely for 10k, at crossroads take left (instead of right for Tinahely), continue straight for 8k to carpark of The Gap pub. From Gorey: take Hollyfort road for 12k to the Gap pub. Parking opposite pub. No parking please along road to start or at entrance to forest.

Organisers Instructions:

- Please note the IMRA update in January 2024 regarding mandatory kit.

- For this race please come prepared with the items as per Level B Standard.

- On the morning of the race the Race Director will determine what runners should carry, based on weather conditions.

- This is a difficult event. The terrain is tough.

- Route will be marked per IMRA guidelines. On the way back along the ridge the route follows an existing way-marked trail - the yellow belly loop - which has purple arrows marking the way. - The route - particularly the long course - is NOT recommended for beginners. Trail shoes with good grip are essential .

- Your IMRA race no. should be worn on front and visible, especially crossing the finish line. - As per IMRA rules there is NO cash entries on the day. Pre-registered runners only.

- If a runner needs a replacement race no. at registration, there is an additional charge of €5 for this, payable at register by card payment (only)

- Event entry is open now. - Please carpool if you can. Priority parking opposite pub will be given to cars which have more than 1 occupant.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
