*CANCELLED* Slievenaman Mountain Nav Challenge
Sunday 14 October, 2018
9 (3,3,3) - Difficult Terrain, >500M ascent, >10Km
- Route not marked
Kilcash, Co.Tipperary Follow the Google maps link for directions: https://goo.gl/maps/w8H6uYEnRF22 The event car park is located 500m above Kilcash village, which is situated just off the Kilkenny/Clonmel road (N76). Head through the village, up the hill, for 400m until a left turn signed Slievenamon summit. Follow these directions into car park. A local farmer has kindly allowed us to use his field (for a small fee) for parking and organising the event. We would ask all attendees to use this facility as it reduces the inconvenience placed upon the local community (such as blocked access, noise, general increase in activity) within the village itself. Parking is €3 per car to cover the fee.
Note forum post "Due to the weather warnings in place for the coming days, we have reluctantly decided to cancel the Slievenamon Nav Challenge event. The unpredictable weather is not suitable for a navigation challenge and may present unnecessary risk to each participant. We will still be hosting a social group run, weather permitting, around the route. Meet up at 10.45am with 11am start. Inaugural end of season sandwiches/drinks in Kehoes Pub, Kilcash, afterwards.....ALL welcome."
Kehoes Pub, Kilcash village.
You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize
Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
