Route Description:
This is a new race in the IMRA calendar for 2018. Brandon Hill is the highest mountain in County Kilkenny and has an elevation of 515 m. Starting and finishing at the forest barrier this race takes in a full circuit of the hill, a climb to the summit and a fast descent back to finish. The running terrain includes forest roads, fire breaks and mountain paths. The full circuit is approx. 13.5km and it offers great views over south Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow.
Getting There:
Graignamanaigh is a short enough drive from Kilkenny, Waterford, New Ross, Wexford and Carlow. Race registeration is in the Scouts Hall which is located in Graignamanaigh, overlooking the river. The Rowing Club is also located beside the Scouts Hall and there should be plenty of parking down there and on the other side of the bridge.
Organisers Instructions:
Registration will be in the Scouts Hall in Graignamanaigh (beside the rowing club) from 9.30am. There is very limited car parking available at the start location for this race. For this reason we are asking all runners to park at the Scouts Hall Car Park in town and use the shuttle bus service that will be running from outside the Scouts Hall. The cost of the shuttle is 3euro each way and 6euro return. Shuttle vouchers will be purchased at registration and the shuttle times up are 9.45, 10am, 10.15 and 10.30. Shuttle van will also bring people back to car park after the race. Runners should bring a jacket/ gear bag with them on the shuttle up to the race start and there will be a secure event tent to store stuff during the race. Only race org team cars will be permitted to park up at the start There will be an ealy start option for novice runners doing the long course starting at 10.45am. Runners doing the early start should highlight this at registration and should be up at the start in good time. The shorter / junior course will be to the summit of Brandon and back (about 5k) Short kids race also happening with kids being accompanied by parents. Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
