Route Description:

Junior / Short Route

Distance 3.5k, ascent 140m
The junior / Short route follows the main route for 1.5km. From the start the route heads north for just over 1km, taking the first left on the forest road. Continue uphill and straight until you get to a set of field gates. Continue through these gates which leads out onto the open mountain. 100m uphill from the gates the junior/short route then turns left onto a track (the main route continues straight up) This track contours around the top of the forest for about 400m until it joins the main Brockagh descent (same as the main route from here). From here it is down the grassy path to the gate leading back into the forest road. Continue downhill on the forest road, making sure to turn left when you join the Wicklow Way, through a series of bends leading to the finish line at the crossroads where you started.

Junior/ short course will start after the main start

Please note U10 must be accompanied on the race route by a guardian or parent.

Main Route

Distance 5.9k, ascent 260m

The race start is located at the forest crossroads approximately 700m up the forest road from the barrier. This is the start/finish. From the forest crossroads, the route heads north for just over 1km, taking the first left on the forest road. Continue uphill and straight until you get to a set of field gates. Continue through these gates which leads out onto the open mountain. A grassy path then leads up to join the main path up Brockagh. Turn left onto this path and follow up to Brockagh East top and then continue an anticlockwise loop to the northwest. This loop joins the main Brockagh path, which you will follow all the way down the grassy path to the gate leading back into the forest road. Continue downhill on the forest road, making sure to turn left when you join the Wicklow Way, through a series of bends leading to the finish line at the crossroads.
Getting There:
Follow normal directions to the village of Laragh if travelling from the N11 direction. Parking at Brockagh Resource Center is on your right after McCoys petrol station. It will be on your left before McCoys shop if coming from the Wicklow Gap direction.

Race start is on the crossroads with the Wicklow Way in Brockagh Woods. This is a 1 km run/walk from the registration, so please leave sufficient time to get there.

    Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
