Route Description:
Start is about 800m from the pub. From the off, follow the trail for 800m to the stone wall which marks the steep climb to the top. This has about 200m climb over 700m length, and may be ran either side of the wall. The wall will need to be crossed once, there are quite a few easy points to climb over. Run through the old gate (which will be opened) **Junior Course crosses the wall at the marked stile and turns for home at this point-circa 4k in total**. Everyone else follows the wall along the grassy ridge for another 500m, and cross a low stone wall at the marked point. Run along the fast grassy downhill to the end of the stone wall, cross wall, and enter the forest. All junctions will be marked, otherwise follow straight along the stone wall. At the 6k point, rejoin the trail and climb for home. Stay on this trail (running through or around pools, your choice), until 7.5k point, where you turn sharply for a fast descent through the forest. Upon exiting, follow the markings through the mucky trail (care is needed here), and descend again through the cleared forest trail. Enter the forest again at 8k, follow the flat puddled trail, and turn for a final fast descent through the trees. Turn left at the bottom, and sprint the final 200m to the finish.
Getting There:
SINGLE OCCUPANCY CAR DRIVERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTER THE RACE. **There is a bus organized to drive runners from Sandyford Luas Dublin to Annagh, and back. This is to help with congestion as car-parking space is very limited. Cost €9 return. Sign up on the carpool page** OSI Mapsheet 62: T 108 691 Google maps: "Annaghgap". From Dublin: best route is to take the N11 Exit 22 (Gorey/Inch) at roundabout take 3rd exit (Gorey/Carnew/Inch), at next roundabout take 1st exit (Gorey/Carnew), and immediately take next right, going over humpback bridge. Follow this road straight (from here to pub about 10k), through Kilanerin, keep straight on road until it ends at junction, turn right on road for 700m to Gap pub. Alternate: to Rathnew, take the exit to Rathdrum. From Rathdrum: drive through Aughrim, then R747 towards Tinahely for 10k, at crossroads take left (instead of right for Tinahely), continue straight for 8k to carpark of The Gap pub. From Gorey: take Hollyfort road for 12k to the Gap pub.
Organisers Instructions:
Registration opens at 10:00am and closes at when Car-Park is full, or 11.30am, whichever comes first. **Anyone travelling on the bus is guaranteed entry** If you are not in the queue by this time then you will not be registered for the race. You can of course run anywhere on the mountain you like but please do not interfere with the race. Race starts about 500m from the carpark. Mandatory kit- windproof jacket and foil blanket. These may or may not need to be carried throughout the race, RD to make a weather dependent call before the off, but in any case bring them with you to registration.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
